Pottery With a Mission

Kiskapu Pottery is a micro-batch, owner-operated pottery inspired by coastal landscapes, natural textures, and language. This is functional pottery designed to be used and enjoyed every day.

Globally, we are at a crisis point of overproduction and dehumanization of daily life in a way that we haven’t seen in living memory. Kiskapu Pottery’s mission is to reintroduce and encourage a more human-paced day-to-day for consumers AND producers.

By working in micro-batches at the pace of this potter, I can contribute a little bit of good to the world by encouraging people to take care of and reconnect with themselves, and each other, while doing the same for myself and my family.

Micro-Batch

Wheel thrown in micro-batches to maintain a sustainable pace and a sustainable future. The world is full of stuff. Producing less encourages us to think carefully about what we bring into our lives, and not be owned by “the stuff”.

Limited Run Collections

2 limited collections each year. One reflects the spirit of rural and coastal life. The other explores words as concepts across cultures. These are short runs, not to be repeated.
Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Crafted to Last

Handmade functional tableware slowly and crafted for sustainability. These pieces are designed to withstand everyday use. Should the unthinkable happen, I encourage repair since I do not remake items. Enjoy, use, repair.

Clay Reclaimed

I save and reclaim as much clay as possible from trimmings, pottery fails, and other scraps at all stages. What can’t be saved goes into the clay trap.

Waste Water Filtered

The studio DIY clay trap filters out clay, glaze, and other waste from the water I use to make with and clean the studio. This waste is then properly disposed of.

Fired Pottery Fails Reused

When a fired piece is beyond saving, I smash and reuse the fragments in pottery decoration, e.g. speckled glaze. Or pass them on to other artisans to reuse.
